Jerry Wischmeier, co-owner of Wischmeier Nursery, announced today (June 9th, 2016) that the family’s Nursery & Garden Center will be closing after 31 years of business sometime in early July.  A clearance sale of the company’s plants and merchandise has begun.

“It has been a privilege to serve our community and we truly thank all of our customers for their loyal support throughout the years,” Jerry Wischmeier stated.

The decision to close was prompted by the desire of John Wischmeier Sr., the owner and founder of Wischmeier Nursery, to retire.  Jerry Wischmeier, John’s son, is also ready to pursue other interests and opportunities.

“The decision to close was very bittersweet and not easy to make.  Our entire family and employees will miss our customers very much.  Many customers have become good friends and like family to us over the years.  We all loved seeing their smiling and familiar faces walk through the doors each day.  It was always a joy to hear people say that it would not be spring without a trip to Wischmeier Nursery,” Jerry Wischmeier stated.

Wischmeier Nursery has become a favorite place to shop for Columbus and surrounding areas for quality plants & products and unique & hard to find items for the garden.  The company has also become a destination stop for many people traveling through the area, drawing people from throughout the Midwest.

The Wischmeier family encourages all of their customers to continue to shop and support the local merchants of Columbus and surrounding areas that offer plants and gardening products.

Thank you again Columbus for your many years of business.
